not 2 worry bout delays in reply...just very happy 2 hear that all is well...some yrs ago, while I was at work, we had a fire in our building....i had given a neighbor emergency keys...the fire was put out but smoke & noise were everywhere...she called 2 let me know that she checked on Guthrie....he too had "slept through the whole thing" and "was really annoyed that she woke him....
Ohai! I just now saw your message; for some reason it didn't show up as an e-mail. That system seems to be very inconsistent. I'm glad that you and your kitty weathered the storm OK. We have our share of evacuations and power outages here, but for totally different reasons. Here we lose power during snowstorms and occasionally have to evacuate because of wildfires. I have learned to pack up everything that is most important and load the car VERY quickly!
sure do understand about the heat...Guthrie is a total terror who also drives me & household...i stayed put, prayed hard because I simply didn't want to move a cat with a heart murmer...thankfully prayers answered...seems my whole family lived in evacuation zones for this last storm...let me know if there's anything you need that i can send u..regards to the furry one...kat
My house seems to be in a protected little vortex-- there's been storms here for a couple of weeks that I don't notice inside, and now an earthquake doesn't phase me... I'll see if some of the magic can be siphoned off to the coast for you--- Unless Irene makes a beeline from Charleston to Charlotte, then I'm keepin' all of the hoo-doo here!
Well, I was going to ask if you are battened down for Irene, but first I wanna ask if you got shook up this afternoon. Felt nothing here in Charlotte, actually didn't know about it until I turned on the news. Are you ready in case the storm veers your way?
Dear One, I want to dedicate this to Little Dexter and His Brother. Their story will span the planet and never be lost. Please send Love to all the Animals as you listen. Thank you. With Love, Nippy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zf5UfOuvQHQ&NR=1
Scotland sounds nice... But if'n I had to stay in the States, I sometimes find myself hankerin't for a skitter off to Seattle. In the meantime, I've off to a weekend camping trip in the Virginia mountains with a bunch o' hippies; so's I'm escaping civ-ill-ization, if not the heat!
My mom was an Oakie, my dad from Galveston. His father's family came from Tennessee to Texas; his mom's family were Jacksons that claimed heritage to Stonewall. I was conceived in Shreveport before dad got the transfer to Chicago... Now, if I told people I was born in London or Paris, I would have still been considered Southern--- but just because I was "hatched" in the north...... *sigh*
Amen to heat hating. It's strange how all of my heritage is southern, but my body type seems made for northern climes. I think Spirit tried to help me by having my father working in Chicago when I was born... then fate and my physiology was cheated by a transfer to HOTlanta... So here I've been, raised out of my element and having to fight off being a "Yankee" for the crime of spending less than six months of my young life in enemy territory.
We've finally gotten a break from the heat here, it's actually at or below 90 all week. Hope you are getting some relief as well, since I notice a lot of our breeze and rain has been coming from the coast.
Yep, you're story sounds more and more like living in St Augustine 10 years back... When I first moved there, they had just had their big fire outbreak finally die out, but the smoke smell lingered for weeks. And we kinda encouraged tropical storms, especially since the NE Florida section of the state seemed to be shaped for steering the brunt of the storms out to sea, but bring in lots of blessed cooling wind... I guess you're far enough inland not to get the ocean breeze if you've got 103- I thought it was hot in Charlotte this summer!
