Ohhh I know how loyal wolves can be with hoomins. You are so fortunate to have had that bond! *wish i had been there* Maybe if my friend or another volunteer had shown me the connectivity.... however she was specializing in the large cats.
Well yeah, we DO know that the wolfies can connect...they live in packs, they accept partners into the pack. SWEET. The ones I met at WLWstation did not seem to have that connection with my friend. I think Lee was specializing in the big cats. I have seen the "interspecies schnorgling" concept all over for last few years. I am so touched by the interactions. MELT.
Thank you for the link! I knew a volunteer at Wildlife Waystation here in SoCal--years ago. She gave us a behind the scenes tour and secretly demonstrated how she had bonded with the big cats. They are just as capable of affection with other species as our little ones. I was boggled. The wolves and bears were not approachable. The llamas and goats demonstrated the same ability to connect with humans (although they were indiscriminate, whereas specific bonds have to be established with the felines).
