Dante sounds like a sweetheart - and a very lucky little boy to have you! Microbiology, eh? My degrees are in architecture and I never practiced. After a nervous breakdown in grad school - which took a looong time to come back from fully - I never could do anything as stressful again. At least I was able to finish my Masters, so not a total waste of time and money. Hell of a time for such a thing to happen. But you know, s**t happens. Let me know when you've had a chance to upload pics of Dante, OK? Not sure when I can check in, as my cable's been coming and going for a couple days now. Getting really tired of being in the middle of something online or on TV and having it crap out. Sigh. But again... s**t happens. It'll clear up eventually. :)
May I assume that Dante is a black kitteh? If not, how'd he get his name? I don't usually read a lot of fantasy novels, other than humorous ones, although I like fantasy movies and TV. I like Pratchett's Discworld and Robert Asprin's Myth, Inc, series. I hadn't heard of The Long War (or The Long Earth). When I went to check them out at Amazon I found he already has FOUR books in a series I've never heard of, the Science of Discworld series. How cool is that?! I also like mysteries. I've read 2 really good ones recently by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer, each independent authors as well (romance and spy novels, respectively). So far they have only 3 books together and none feature the same characters. Each is offbeat, though. I've read "Agnes and the Hitman" and "Wild Ride." Agnes is a temperamental food columnist who inadvertently gets drawn into a "Southern Mafia" situation and ends up falling for the Hitman, who isn't *totally* a bad guy... "Wild Ride" involves an aging theme park in Ohio built to imprison an infestation of powerful demons. But they're about to break out, thanks to greedy humans accepting bribes. A dedicated, rotating team of specially gifted magic users has kept them in place for decades, but as their old members are systematically murdered, their newly endowed replacements have to get up to speed - fast - as well as overcome the interference of government (read: military) scientists whose leader is right up there with Dolores Umbridge in the Miss Congeniality category. Humor and numerous love matches ensue. Books and games here, too, though I'm a stay at home mama to the kittehs. What sort of work do you do?

Well Howdy! It's nice to see you back. What's new... Hmm... Our van was broken into, though not much was taken other than some really expensive keys and remotes. Then hail cracked the windshield, for which our insurance company wanted to label the whole van "totaled," cancel part of our coverage, and wipe out any trade in value. Luckily this horrendous state of events didn't go through... she's still ours, still in decent shape, and we still have coverage. Don't ya hate miscommunications? And... sadly... we lost our oldest kitteh, Annie. There's a comix about her in My Stuff. But we're recovering, slowly. We have five others vying for our attention, so we're not lonely. Other than work, what've you been up to? Other than discovering the new, privately run HistoricLOLs? Have you sent a friend request yet? We'll be having special events now and then and being on the friends list means you won't accidentally be left out when we contact folks. Welcome "home"!
Hiya Tuatha! Haven't seen you here in a while. Whatcha been up to? Pretty much lots of nothing has been going on with me, except helping run the new HistoricLOLs profile page. AlisaorDaisy started it after ICHC shut down the original histy site. We've had one special event so far and are getting a pretty steady supply of new submissions from various peeps. If you're not already on our friends list and you like history themed LOLs, send us a request - we always accept. :D Oh, and check out our selection of pics to caption - there are tons! OK, so now this sounds like and ad, even though I really do want to know how you've been.
