Tread softly, you bet. Funny thing though, skunks are docile creatures. OTOH... Saw the cat! Two, in fact. Growling at each other in the middle of the night, most unearthly sound. One black, one sorta-calico; they split when I showed up with my flashlight. Nothing eaten yet, may take them a day or two to adjust to a changed location. (I moved the food box high up where the skunk can't reach.)
It's an old heavy plastic work box (minus top) placed on its side, padded with old towels. The story took a twist late last night; I discovered a skunk eating kitty's food. MJKittyMom suggested moving the food higher, where a cat can climb and a skunk won't go. A few hours after moving the food some critter ate half the remaining food. Hope it was the kitty.
